HOW YOU CAN HELP
Squadron 64

FACILITIES

Completion of the CAP Headquarters Mobile Unit

Squadron 64 has long been without permanent facilities.  With a special grant they were able to secure a mobile unit.  But, it is still in need of much work before the Cadets and Senior Members can use it on a permanent basis.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!  We need volunteers to donate time, talent or finances to assist Squadron 64 in completing this project before the winter sets it.  If you can help, please contact Squadron 64 at (626) 966-5523

GENERAL SUPPORT

Many parents and friends ask how they can help to support the activities and programs of the Squadron without having the time to actually join as a Senior Member.  The following is how you can help.  We do, however, always welcome new members.

Transportation - We currently have a 12 passenger van assigned to the unit.  It is old but serviceable.  Several of our officers are rated to drive it.  In addition, we are still expecting the assignment of a used 4WD suburban as soon as it is overhauled.  This will help us with transporting personnel to activities and missions.  However, as we continue to grow, space becomes scarce at the most popular activities.  It is a great help when parents of Cadets will offer to accompany us on activities, unless it involves military support, when liability limits make Support Membership a requirement.

Feeding, Parties and Special Events - If you've ever wondered who arranges the food for our various activities, or why we don't have more or better parties, potlucks, picnics or barbecues, it's because these events are usually organized by a few of the already overworked Seniors and/or the Cadet Staff and we simply don't have the time to arrange additional events.  We would really welcome volunteers from among the parents or spouses of members in organizing these events.  If any of you are willing to do so, here's some of our events that we would need your help:

Business Sponsorships - Like other Non-Profits, we eagerly accept yearly, tax-deductible financial sponsorships by local businesses.  Support in any quantity, whether money or material are always helpful.  These donations are used to defray our operating and training costs and to provide support and possible scholarship funds for our members who might need it.  If you or anyone you know could assist us in contacting potential donors, you could help to relieve one of our recurring headaches in operations.

Recruiting - Please tell others about CAP!  We are always in need of new members and are currently attempting to grow our Senior Member ranks (in addition to our ongoing Cadet efforts) to help carry the operational load of fulfilling our missions.  New Seniors do not have to have any previous training or military experience, but only a willing heat and a dose of tolerance for the foibles and frustrations that accompany any volunteer organization.  CAP provides training opportunities for all of its various missions.  If you can help, please contact LtCol Ken Hartwell (626) 966-5523
