Civil Air Patrol: It's a really cool Civilian Auxiliary of the US Air Force. You need to be 12 years old to join as a cadet and 18 years old to join as a senior member. You can join as a cadet as late as your 19th birthday and remain on cadet status until the end of your 21st birthmonth. You get a taste of military life with no obligation to join the services through things such as encampment mandatory to become an officer). It goes National, Region, Wing, Group, and Squadron. That is the very simplified chain of command.
