SUBJECT:  Pacific Region Chaplain Service Staff College

Attached in Adobe format is a Pre-Registration flyer for the Pacific Region Chaplain Service Staff College.  Please give it the widest possible distribution among your chaplains and moral leadership officers.

We have finalized the date and location as follows:  20-23 Feb 2006 at Nellis AFB, NV.  We are pretty excited about the arrangements.  It appears that we will be able to hold the college in the Threat facility where they have many very interesting static displays of the aircraft, tanks, armament and equipment of the military enemies of the US.  I have seen this area and it is worth the trip all by itself.  We can fulfill our aerospace education requirement without leaving the facility.

This year, we are asking that the chaplains and moral leadership officers pre-register so that we can plan accordingly.  We are ordering good quality golf shirts with a Pacific Region Chaplain Service logo.  We will need to know the sizes.  We will contact each pre-registrant personally when we have determined the cost.  It will be less than last year, as our budget has increased; however, it is again dependent on the number of attendees.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EVERYONE PRE-REGISTER ASAP.  Please encourage your folks to do so immediately.  We are working with the DDR people and must have sufficient lead time.  At some point (probably in December) we will stop the pre-registration and after that date we cannot provide a golf shirt for the attendee and if we do not have sufficient registrants, the cost will be higher.

We are returning to the February dates to avoid conflict with other CAP activities.  Again this year the college will begin on Monday and end on Thursday afternoon.  That should give pastors ample time to conduct their Sunday services.  Please remind your chaplains and moral leadership officers that they should not schedule departing flights until late afternoon or early evening on Thursday.  We will NOT provide transportation to the airport until AFTER the luncheon on Thursday.  The luncheon is an integral part of the staff college and should not be omitted.

The theme for our staff college will continue our overall emphasis on the chaplain as a model.  "Modeling Ministry In Crisis" will focus on improving our emergency service skills.  During the college we will participate in a table top search and rescue exercise.  Chaplains should come prepared to hone their skills.  Moral leadership officers will receive specific training to enhance their capabilities in the cadet program.

I hope that all of you will be able to attend.  Wing chaplains will be given an opportunity to meet with their chaplains and moral leadership officers.  This is the premiere gathering of chaplains and moral leadership officers in the Pacific Region.  We are praying for an attendance of at least 50 and participation by all of the Wing Chaplains.

Whit
