Announces New Chaplains Training Course

December 26, 2006 -- At the United States Volunteers - Joint Services Command national staff meeting on December 9, 2006 at March AFB, Riverside, California, Lt. General Allen Baumann announced the formation of the new Chaplains Training Department.

General Baumann was also pleased to announce the new national Chief of Chaplains for the USV-JSC , Chaplain LT Commander Lynn Anderson.  Dr. Anderson is Dean of Theology for Promise Christian University and his career includes service in the United States Navy and more than 30 years as a full-time pastor.  He brings his expertise in the training of men and women for ministry to meet this great challenge of preparing men and women for ministry as a Chaplain with USV-JSC.

Chaplain Anderson has selected Chaplain Dr. Stephen Kirtley to head this department as Director of Chaplain Services and he will be developing the training curriculum for all Chaplain Services.  Dr. Kirtley  has over 30 years as an U.S. Army Chaplain and retired as a full Colonel.  Dr. Kirtley was one of the few chaplains allowed to attend the War College and Jump School.  He was an instructor at the Army Chaplain College and has a distinguished career with the US Army.  Dr. Kirtley has also over 25 years as a full time pastor and will bring to this new course for Chaplains his unique experience.
