PRESS RELEASE PROGRAM No.477 EIR VIDEO MAGAZINE: October 11, 2000 A world-wide high speed rail system is urgently needed, if we are to develop the world in the 21st Century. In "A 600 Mile Per Hour Train Suspended by Magnets," Lawrence Hecht, editor for 21st Century Science and Technology magazine, interviews Col. Roy D. Vinson, the man charged with reconstructing all of Germany’s roads, bridges, and industry during the post World War II occupation, and the inventor of the "magnetrain" a promising new magnetically-levitated (maglev) train concept. A high-quality artist’s-concept animation of the train and its hydraulically controlled suspension system is shown. Two other short interviews by Mr. Hecht follow: first, of physicist Klaus Kronenberg, world expert on magnetism; and then, of Steve Bayrd, an aerospace engineer involved in Magnetrain development.
