CHAPLAIN SERVICES
Chaplain (Lt.
Commander) Lynn Anderson
Chief of Chaplains
United States Volunteers Joint Services Command
(USV-JSC)
The United States Volunteers Joint Services
Command is composed of military retires and former members of every service of
the Armed Forces. The USV-JSC members are disciplined, trained, loyal uniformed
volunteers that serve and stand ready to serve the Department of Defense.
Chaplains wear the uniform with modification in the service in which they
served. The uniform is distinct from active and reserve services,
but provides a "seamless" appearance. The United States Armed Forces
Veterans are the greatest untapped volunteer force in the world with their years
of experience and expertise.
Today according to Lt. General, Allen Baumann, National Commanding General of
the USV-JSC, "our veterans are dying at a rate of 1600 a day.
Because of the war on terrorism, our active and reserve forces are committed to
preserving our democratic free society. As a results 90% of America's
finest are buried without final military honors." There is a critical
shortage of properly trained, experienced, uniformed Chaplains to support the
mission of rendering burial services other than a uniformed member of the
Service of the deceased and a "boom box" or an electronic bugle for TAPS.
The USV-JSC the USV-JSC provides flag folders, the salute by a rifle squad, an
honor guard and a Chaplain."
Because of this shortage, the USV-JSC Chaplains Service is gearing up to recruit
and train more qualified chaplains to be sure that more of our veterans are honored with
"boots on graves" as was
intended by Congress before this severe shortage of uniformed men and women
arose.
To this purpose we are committed.
Additionally, we serve as a pool of civilian,
military trained, disciplined and uniformed Volunteers with skills
determined by the Secretary of Defense to be critical, rapidly available for
use in, or in support of, units of the Armed Forces on a temporary basis to
meet no-notice, or short notice, operational requirements.
Qualified members of the USV-JSC may be called upon on
short notice to be embedded
in military units, not as part of the military, but as a relief force
with
required skills that are in short supply in the Armed Forces.
